Intro to me & my Blog (for Emily & Tyler)

I made 2 new friends tonight! Well, one of them I had technically already met, but I think we cemented our friendship tonight. They are both going to be checking out my blog! My friend Katie made a big deal about it to them which of course made me nervous! What if I'm just not as interesting to other people as I think I am! What is people just accidentally stumble upon my posts because of randomly googling "Buffy" or something? It's very intimidating.

So I thought maybe I could give you a little intro to me & my blog...

First of all, I have the most wonderful friends and I love to talk about them whenever I can! I used to do this "i see you" thing - which is not nearly as creepy as it sounds - more my way of saying I notice you, I recognize you, I see what you're doing & how you try & how you live & I love you. So check that out. I also think that my friends are absolutely hilarious & I will post my favorite quotes by my friends whenever they say funny things! I need to start remembering to post these more often again because my friends are frequently cracking me up!

Sometimes, although rarely, I will post my political opinions. I am the type of person who enjoys hearing other's opinions. I think it's an important part of the process of me developing my own political opinions. Maybe you'll bring up a point I hadn't thought of or bring a new perspective I hadn't seen. It may not change my opinion, but it will definitely at the very least give me a better understanding of my own opinion because I've been able to see it from another perspective as well. So if you read any of my political thoughts, post your comments! I'm interested! Just be nice. I'll try to reply with the same amount of respect. Here are a few in particular to check out if you are interested:
Food for Thought
President-elect Barack Obama
McCain on Letterman

I also love Jesus. That relationship is the biggest part of my life & influences every area of who I am. I'm not the poster-child for Christianity. I'm still definitely struggling with my own issues as I'm sure everyone is & I'm still working toward the person I want to be. I just know that my heart & my soul & my brain & my thoughts & convictions all point in the direction of Jesus. So sometimes I talk about that. Here are some specific posts to check out on that topic:

Also, I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer! It is one of 2 of my favorite shows! The other show is Friends. I love Friends too. But Buffy holds a special place in my heart. I love the relationships & the cheesy hilariousness of it all! I just think it's fabulous!! I talk about it a lot! Check out a couple of my favorite Buffy posts:

I love quotes. Not too much to say about that. I just post them from time to time because they inspire me! I also love PostSecret!

Finally, here are a bunch of posts that I think just reflect who I am! It's a long list & I stopped somehwere around March 2008 because I felt like it was long enough. But check them out!

Favorite Friend Quote of the Day

[I had a girls movie night at my house last night and we watched Step Up 2 and High School Musical 3. My friend Katie just couldn't get over how cute Zac Efron is. Then she said this...]

"I love it when he eats."
-Katie

The picture is also just for her.

Another Friend Quote for the Day

I need to preface by saying that the pest control people were at our office spraying today. They spray every other month. So I'm sitting at a desk next to Mechelle today and I hear this noise that sounded like water spraying, but I couldn't figure out why.
Me: "What is that noise?!?"
Mechelle: "I think somebody just pissed on the floor in there."
Then in walks the pest control guy and he joined in laughing with us as he heard what she said.

Friend Quote of the Day 3/19/2009

Me: "The oldest son on Weeds is so cute. He dated Mary-Kate Olsen on the show. She played a Christian, and she smoked pot."
Mechelle: "Oh, a smot-poking Christian. Nice."
Me: "Did you mean to say it like that?"
Then we laughed for like 5 minutes.

Favorite Friend Quote of the Day 10-18-2008

Cameron, Allison & Diana

This is really more of a conversation (mildly paraphrased because it was a longer discussion than just a few lines)

Cameron: I really think that Allison has an old soul.
Diana: What kind of soul do I have?
C: I think of the color turquoise when I think of your soul.
D: Really? Well, I think of a little heart-shaped computer with a little mouse when I think of your soul...in dirty earth tones because you like the environment.

Earlier the same day...

Cameron: I don't really laugh out loud at stuff all that much.
Diana: Well, you have a pretty dry sense of humor. Most of my friends do. It's a problem with dryness!
C: That sounds like a really bad feminine hygiene commercial.
(Then, Diana proceeds to walk into a locked door.)

Favorite Friend Quote of the Day 3-2-2008

My friend Paul sent me & Hannah a message on Facebook today. He is our friend who watches Buffy with us. We also got him into One Tree Hill and he likes The O.C. He rocks. This is the message:

"So I started talking to a co-worker on AIM tonight. We had never had a AIM conversation before. She has a buddy icon of a guys face. I thought it was the karate kid but she said it was james lafferty. I came back with, "you mean Nathan." She freaked out that i knew One Tree Hill. So thanks. I might as well cut off my penis."

Favorite Friend Quote of the Day 1-5-2008

Hannah & I went to the mall today. Me & Hannah had this whole conversation and I just wanted you to know about it and why I love Hannah so much...

Cameron: I'm going to see P.S. I Love You tomorrow. It has Spike in it. Do you want to go with me?

Hannah: I don't know, I don't really want to see it but I kinda do, but ONLY because Spike is in it. Is Spike married?

Cameron: I don't think so.

Hannah: Oh, I need to find him. But he would hate me because I would make him watch Buffy all the time.

Cameron: You would have to make him "be" Spike.

Hannah: I would always make him "be" Spike. It would be, "tonight I'm Buffy & you're Spike" every day of my life.

(That's not exactly word for word because I don't completely remember, but you get the gist.)

I love Hannah. And Spike. And all things Buffy.

Favorite Friend Quote of the Day 11-20-2007

"I mean, they only tip God 10% so how can we expect any more?"
-Guy in class who will remain nameless for my blog
(He works in a restaurant)

Let's talk about this for a second! My mind was racing with thoughts.

1. People know what's up.
I don't know if this guy is a Christian or not. All I know is that he works in a restaurant and the "church people" are the worst to serve. People know that's not how it should be. They KNOW. We aren't fooling anybody. Time to step up.

2. Get your stinking act together!
When will we ever get it right?? The "Christian life" is hard. I understand that. I understand that living in a world that pushes so hard for something different is difficult. But come on, how hard is it to patiently sit through your lunch and at the very least act like Jesus would to your server? I've always heard that the church crowd is the worst for servers. Goodness gracious people!

3. They're watching.
People are watching. They notice. They look. Granted usually the big mistakes outweigh the simple acts of kindness in the world in terms of what is publicized and remembered, but still. That's no reason to stop performing the simple acts of kindness. Just look at things differently. If we are supposed to be Christ to people, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could start at the dinner table, whether that's with our family at home or in public at a restaurant?

It's really simple. But it's annoying to me that other people know how absurd it is that we would "only tip God 10%."

All kinds of questions and comments were raised. It's crazy. I had to agree with him & others in class. I do get sick of "church people."

Where are the "little Christs" which is what we are supposed to be?
Where are they hiding?
Come out, come out wherever you are!!!

Favorite Friend Quote of the Day 6-13-2007

Emily: "I think between you [me], Lewis, Fred & Kristen, you know more useless information than anybody I know."

Me: "What about Peter?"

Emily: "Throw Peter in there and we should start a useless information game show because the 5 of you would win it! OH! I'll be your road manager! Can
I have a phone with the headset?"

Yes, Emily. A phone with a headset.

Also at work:

Lewis: "Emily, I know what you can do with your life!"
(Emily is thinking, "Great! A li
fe plan!")
Lewis: "You could totally be a superhero!"

I don't do Photoshop, this is the worst picture making ever.
