Breaking Dawn (Major Spoilers)

WARNING: I do not hold back in my details. This is pretty much  nothing but spoilers. If you have read the book, you'll be fine to read this. If you have not read the books & have not seen the movie, don't read this.

Overall...I hated it.

But to be fair, I don't think it's the movie's fault that I hated it. I absolutely hated the first half of the Breaking Dawn book. Pretty much right where they cut off the first movie is where I finally got a little bit on board with the book. As soon as Jacob imprinted, everything made more sense to me about all of the other books. I suddenly got why Jacob & Bella had always had that connection. I had read the other books where it described someone imprinting on a baby and the way they had described it made it seem way less creepy and weird. I don't think there's a perfect way to portray that in a movie.

So I pretty much felt about the movie the way I felt about the book. I loved the wedding stuff, honeymoon stuff. I hated it when Bella got pregnant. I thought it was embarrassing and awkward. I feel like Bella is a horrible role model and a horrible character in general. She was never my favorite in the books or the movies. (Give me Hermione Granger any day!)

When it got into Jacob's view and you see the wolves talking and everything, it seemed like some sort of Disney channel animal movie. Just felt cheesy and again, embarrassing for me. I spent the last half of the movie practically with my head in my hands, or covering my face because I felt so awkward about all of it.

I will say that I loved the ending when Bella became a vampire. When it goes through that whole thing and then she opens her blood red eyes. Yep, I'm ready for Part 2. I loved Part 2 in the book! I loved the whole thing with the Volturi and with meeting all the different types of vampires from all over the world. I loved it when Bella was learning about being a vampire, so I look forward to seeing all of that in the last movie.

So let's see, I loved the wedding and honeymoon. That was about 25 minutes or so. I loved the part when Bella became a vampire. That's the last 2 minutes or so. I have a combined total of less than 30 minutes of the movie that I liked. That leaves 3/4 of the movie that I hated. Overall, not great.

But bring on Part 2.

Breaking Dawn...again

Since I only read it once before & I've read the others at least 3 times each, I'm reading Breaking Dawn again. I like it better this time because I know what's coming. I remember I HATED the middle part of the book the first time I read it!! Eclipse has just reignited my Twilight obsession!

Movie Review: Eclipse

Twilight
Twilight and Breaking Dawn Movie

Maybe it was the new director, maybe it was Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria, maybe it was that after the first 2 I was just used to them being bad that anything better would seem like major improvement, but I absolutely LOVED Eclipse! I loved that it was a little more dark & scary vampires rather than cheesy & stupid vampires without being completely violent & disgusting vampires (like True Blood which I can't handle). I liked that it showed the back stories of Jasper & Rosalie without being all smoky & grainy like the other movies. I liked that their eyes were distinctly red, brown or black, but normal looking & not crazy like New Moon & not too subtle like Twilight. I guess I've gotten used to the bad acting, too because it didn't bother me - although I was still aware of it. The wigs were still bad & Kristen Stewart still just makes me feel generally awkward & embarrassed. But overall I really really loved it & for the first time after seeing a Twilight Saga movie, I left the theater feeling really excited!

So way to go David Slade & cast. I definitely recommend this one.
(Although I still think you HAVE to read the books before seeing the movies because even though I liked this one, it was nothing in comparison to the books.)

What did you think of it?

Breaking Dawn Movie Info

First, click here for some info from the producer of the Twilight movies about the Breaking Dawn installment of the series. Second, consider the possibility of any of these three directors being responsible for directing Breaking Dawn!

Sofia Coppola
Previously directed...
Marie Antoinette (2006)
Lost in Translation (2003)
The Virgin Suicides (1999)

Gus Van Sant
Previously directed...
Milk (2008)
Elephant (2003)
Finding Forrester (2000)Psycho (1998)
Good Will Hunting (1997)
To Die For (1995)

Bill Condon
Previously directed...
Dreamgirls (2006)
Kinsey (2004)
Gods and Monsters (1998)

I definitely have some concerns about this movie. It was hard for me to get on board with the book because of Renesmee, but after reading all the books, I was okay with it. I'm just not sure if the movie is going to do it justice or be totally cheesy. That's why it's so important for the director to be good. If you're interested in reading the plot of the book/movie, then click the link above. Then consider which director you think would be best. I'm kinda leaning toward Gus Van Sant.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Trailer!

My initial thoughts:
Edward's eyes still look stupid.
Bella's hair went from being nicer looking in New Moon to being fly-away dry looking in this.
I'm never going to really love the way they put these books into movies.
I'm still interested in seeing it.

(And if you're reading this in an imported Facebook note, you may have to go to my actual blog to watch the video.)

Breaking Dawn in 2 Movies

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows started it...now Breaking Dawn will be split into 2 movies as well. I kinda find that weird and not necessary. Maybe I need to read the book again and figure out where they would split it. I dunno, what do you think??

Remember Me

I liked the New Moon movie better than Twilight, but I still don't think Robert Pattinson was the best pick for Edward. BUT, I think he looks pretty great for this movie!!!

What do you think??

New Moon

Hopefully you all saw the New Moon trailer during the MTV Movie Awards. It definitely looks better than the first one, but I'm still nervous. I think I always will be with those movies because I just love the books so much that I know the movies will never measure up no matter how good they are. Oh well. Here's the trailer in case you haven't seen it yet:

I've also seen pictures from the new movie and pictures of Dakota Fanning as Jane. I'm not super crazy about that choice, but we'll see. I just didn't picture any of the Volturi that young. I pictured them in their early 20's. Maybe that's because I'm in my early 20's. How did you picture them??

Twilight Saga news...

ET's promo & footage from New Moon

David Slade (30 Days of Night) has officially signed on to direct Eclipse

New Moon screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg thinks that Channing Tatum would be perfect to play Riley in Eclipse

People are still talking about Henry Cavill as Edward. He was my #1 pick!

Twilight News

Reuters talks to Robert Pattinson about New Moon

New pictures of Kristen Stewart & Taylor Lautner on the set of New Moon.

Kristen Stewart & her boyfriend pictured in Vancouver. Aw.

Robert Pattinson is in a new MTV film called How to Be - you can pre-order the soundtrack from Amazon. Rob has a song on the soundtrack. I'll probably buy it.

New Moon Wolves!

They look pretty cute! Maybe New Moon really will be better than Twilight! I feel like it won't take much effort for it to be better, so I'm looking forward to it!

Twilight Saga News!

So I posted about the rumor that Drew Barrymore was interested in directing the third installment in the Twilight series: Eclipse. Apparently that idea blew right on by and now Juan Antonio Bayona, director of The Orphanage, has signed on to direct Eclipse. I keep getting more and more interested in what they're doing to the later movies, especially now as he will be directing the third one. I definitely think I will like the movie versions more if they work on the special effects. Seeing how they should definitely have plenty of money to work with now, I have high expectations for the rest of the movies.

I've also waited to post about Dakota Fanning being cast as Jane in New Moon because I am just not all that crazy about it. It's fine, I guess. It just didn't really knock my socks off to hear that she was chosen for that role. I would be fairly excited about Vanessa Hudgens being cast as Leah Clearwater, though! But I don't think it's going to happen. Oh well.

New Moon: Official Title & Artwork

The movie for New Moon has now officially been given a title and some artwork to tide us over as we wait for more!

The title is: The Twilight Saga's New Moon

and the artwork is above.

I'm excited and nervous! This one doesn't have much Edward in it. It's mainly her & Jacob and that stinks for me. But I do love the part at the end with the Volturi!! It'll be awesome!!!

Jacob Black & the new Hairspray movie!

Just in case you've been living in a box and haven't heard already, Taylor Lautner is definitely back in New Moon as Jacob Black. I can't say I'm super obsessed with this decision, but I also am even less of a fan of the idea of switching actors for a sequel. I hate when they do that. So this is the best option under the circumstances, I guess.

Also, while speaking of sequels, the second Hairspray movie now has an official title - Hairspray 2: White Lipstick. They will be getting new villains in this one, which means no more Michelle Pfeiffer or Brittany Snow. So sad! But it makes sense.

Twilight DVD!!!

Even though I still am not obsessed with the movie itself, I will definitely be buying it. I just have to continue my Twilight collection. I have several copies of all the books and now I'll have the DVD.

What a loser.

But at least I'm not alone in my Twilight (series) obsession! Yay!!
