Favorite series finale

30 Days of Television - Day #22

[THIS HAS MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THESE FINALES]

I don't think I can avoid doing Friends or Buffy for this one because most of my favorite shows are still on the air, so these are the only 2 that have actual series finales. And I didn't love the Lost series finale enough to put it on here.

I love the Friends finale because it's just really funny. There are several quotes from Friends that Lewis & I both still quote on a regular basis that came from the series finale. I love that Chandler & Monica have the babies & Ross & Rachel get together! Phoebe is so happy she's singing like in a musical! It's just a great episode.

I love the Buffy finale because it's like girl power to the highest degree. I love the whole part at the very end where all the girls from all different places are standing up & becoming slayers & realizing that they can take on the world. I love that Spike sacrifices himself & that Buffy finally tells him she loves him (and I believe she really does). It is awesome!!

I know this is a weird one to pick, but it's the first time Buffy kisses Spike on purpose because she thinks he deserves it. Something about it has just always stuck with me. I probably watch it like 3 times every time I watch the episode.

I have watched literally every episode of Friends or Buffy more than 5 times. Especially Friends - I can play the episode The One Where Ross Finds Out in my head - no problem. I also know every word to every song in Once More With Feeling from Buffy.

Best Scene Ever

30 Days of Television - Day #9

Okay, this is hard. It would be absolutely ridiculous for me to think I could actually come up with one scene that I think is the best scene on a TV show ever. No way. So here's what I did, I went with the top 5 scenes off the top of my head that I could remember thinking "oh wow that was awesome." I feel like with all the tv I watch & all the shows I've ever seen, for there to be a few scenes that stick out as breathtaking for whatever reason, they should at least be mentioned. But these are not in order & I make no promises that I won't think of something better a week or month from now. Also all of these but 1 comes from a season finale. I guess finales just have the best scenes!

The One With the Proposal: Part 2

The final scene where Chandler realizes he's going to run back & propose to Monica & he thinks everything is all messed up - he gets back to the apartment & Joey says Monica left all upset & Chandler is crying & I'm crying & he opens the door & it's candles everywhere & Monica standing there & it's just the best thing you've ever seen in that one moment! I cry every single time I watch it. "There's a reason why girls don't do this!!"

You know the one. Ross & Rachel argue at Central Perk because Ross & Julie didn't get a cat. "You had no right to tell me you ever had feelings for me!" And then he leaves & she's mad & then she cries & then you see Ross in the window of the door & she opens the door & they kiss & it's raining & oh wow it's just good stuff.

Ryan finds out about Trey attacking Marissa. He goes to Trey's apartment to confront him - things get violent, Marissa comes in & tries to break it up. Trey's hitting, kicking & choking Ryan. Marissa is crying & screaming, she finds a gun, she points, she shoots, Imogen Heap plays & things go slow mo to fast & back all at once. Not the happiest of scenes, but overall totally awesome in the way it's done.

Alex holds Izzie, Cristina holds Burke's hand, Izzie tells the Chief that she cut Denny's LVAD wire, Meredith is left to choose between Derek & Finn. It's just sad & emotional & packed with a bunch of drama in about 4 minutes.

TV Characters We're Thankful For

While this post at this site kinda sucks, it made me think about the TV characters I'm thankful for!!

Buffy people
Duh. I can't pick one.


Chandler Bing
He's completely hilarious and one of my favorite tv characters of all time. He never fails to make me laugh, but when he gets choked up and is serious about stuff, it totally breaks me down.


Dan Humphrey
I just like him. Serena & Dan are my favorite. But I'm starting to be a bigger and bigger fan of Chuck & Blair.


Gregory House
I love that he's a jerk and totally brilliant and hilarious. He makes the whole show work.


Temperance Brennan
I love how she is socially awkward. She just says what's going on even if it's inappropriate or questionable. And Booth just loves her but they haven't done anything about it yet! It's starting to drive me crazy.


Mark Sloan
While there are plenty of characters to love on Grey's, Mark is probably my favorite. He acts like he's all macho and just sleeps around, but I think he's more sensitive than he appears.


Brooke Davis
She's hot and she's feisty and she's funny. What more could you ask for?


Seth Cohen
Absolutely hilarious. All the time. I love his sarcasm!

Possible Buffy Movie?

After the success of the Sex and the City movie, I am a firm believer that if they do it RIGHT, movies from tv shows that ended can really work out well! I loved what they did with the Sex and the City movie. I think there are places they could still take Friends or Buffy in a movie which is why I fully support the making of these as movies. I am very excited that there has been a surge of rumors about a possible Buffy movie!! Apparently with the success of Twilight, Hollywood is starting to realize that there is still a place for the vampire love stories in movies!

I would be all about it!!!

So my last post got me to thinking about the best music moments in my favorite TV shows. Most of them end up being The OC or One Tree Hill because music is a big deal in those shows, but whatever.

Top 10 Friends Episodes

These do not include finales, which obviously are usually the best ones. I have also picked one from each season, although if I was just picking 10 episodes, I probably wouldn't pick one from season 3 or 4 and would instead pick an additional one from seasons 8 or 10. Also, I didn't pick the obvious ones - The One With All the Thanksgivings, etc. I chose to go a different route.

Season 1 - The One With the East German Laundry Detergent
Ross & Rachel do laundry, ends in a kiss. It's just a funny starting point for the Ross & Rachel story. This is also the first time Chandler dumps Janice - not without poking her in the eye first!



Season 2 - The One Where Ross Finds Out
Classic Friends episode. It's always on the Top lists and not to be cliche, but it just belongs there. Rachel gets drunk and leaves Ross a message telling him she's over him. He has second thoughts about buying a cat with Julie and ends up kissing Rachel at the very end of the episode.



Season 3 - The One With the Hypnosis Tape
Frank Jr. shows up to tell Phoebe he is getting married...to his high school home economics teacher. Rachel gives Chandler a hypnosis tape to get him to stop smoking, but it encourages him to be a strong, independent woman and has hilarious results.



Season 4 - The One Where Chandler Crosses a Line
Because Chandler & Kathy were just so cute, but mostly because Ross plays the keyboard. His "wordless sound poems" are perfection!



Season 5 - The One With Ross' Sandwich
Joey is put into awkward positions while trying to cover up Chandler & Monica's romance. Monica ends up having to cover for them herself. Ross loses his cool and then gets put on probation from work after his supervisor eats his leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwich - with a moistmaker!



Season 6 - The One With Ross' Teeth
Because who can really watch Ross smile with those teeth and not crack up?



Season 7 - The One With Joey's New Brain
Pretty much the one and only reason why this episode is in my top 10 is because of the part where Ross plays the bagpipes for the gang and Phoebe attempts to sing along. It is one of the funniest moments in the show in my opinion.



Season 8 - The One Where Joey Dates Rachel
I almost would have been okay with Joey and Rachel ending up together at the end of the show and so this episode where Joey first realizes that he loves Rachel is just so wonderful for me. The end where they're watching Cujo and she asks if he is scared and he says, "Terrified." I can't watch it and not get choked up. Oh, and Phoebe buys Chandler & Monica a Ms. Pacman game, resulting in Chandler having "the claw!"



Season 9 - The One With Ross' Inappropriate Song
This one has Rachel & Ross singing Baby Got Back to Emma, but it also has Phoebe going to dinner at Mike's parents house. I love when Phoebe tells Mike's mom that he is a very tender and respectful lover and then keeps going on, resulting in Mike going, "Awesome!" Then when she says she threw up in coat closet. It's just hilarious to see Phoebe in that environment.



Season 10 - The One With Ross' Tan
Because Ross half tan is too funny. But also because Amanda steals the show. Her dancing and fake accent are just too much. I love when she dances for Chandler at the end.
