Best One Tree Hill Episode So Far

I know that most of my friends and a lot of the people who read my blog watch One Tree Hill. I have been in discussions the last few days about this week's episode (5.3 - Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.). Everyone is in agreement that it was fabulous. But not everyone agrees that it was the best episode ever. I would like your thoughts. Was it the best episode so far? Not necessarily your favorite, but the best all-around. If you think it was, why? And if you think it wasn't, what would you say has been the best all-around episode so far?

I'm excited to see what you all say!

Probably not best for me just because it was so sad. However, a guy at my churches son writes for the show. He knows Jesus hence why at times they talk about Him! So fun!!

To me, it was the best episode ever. Yes, it was sad, but it was sad in the most primitive form. A lot of people would argue that the "school shooting" episodes were the best. My problem with that is the whole school shooting premise is overwhelming. It was an easy out. It took two shows to get through it. The overall outcome was huge and shocking and a whole bunch of other adjectives, but it was simple.
This episode didn't contain the murder. It had all the truth that happens after a tragedy. The fact that a boy turned from a self-centered ungrateful teen into a student, friend, and man can be lost in an instance.
Lets walk through the show and its subtleties.
The opening quote is a girl reading what we later find out is from a paper written by a new student, who was the girl that attempted to rob from brooke. The fact that she is new explains why hayle didn’t recognize her when she watched the security video. The episode started with the end.
Jamie is by far the cutest kid on t.v. It could be the only flaw that he is too perfect. He wanted Quentin’s jersey and decided to give it to Q’s younger brother. He dressed himself for the funeral. He never hung his head and the cape in the box that Q gave him, and then on the coffin at the end and taking Brookes hand, well, I think the only word that could describe that scene... balling.
Quentin’s mom, talking with everyone at her house when everyone went over. I wanted to hug my t.v. and her.
Dan giving Carrie a hard time wanting to know why she doesn’t have any kids. Which we later find out she did have a son and Dan shows his heart to Carrie. If you weren’t tired of that story line, you are one of I think a select few. But, that moment, when you find out that she has gone through the tragedy of losing a child, you have to feel a little bit of compassion. Doesn’t mean you forgive her by any means but it’s nice to know that they aren’t just making her some random psycho.
Brooke saying that “life suck, then you die,” in front of Jamie then walks out in front of Nathan. The camera stays on him and you know that he knows something is wrong. He later confronts her and basically brings up their characters from the earlier seasons. That’s good writing. And finally, Brooke might be out of her funk.
Skillz in the middle of the basketball court... single tear... that’s heartache.
After the funeral, when the screen usually goes black and the credits roll. This time the screen goes white to keep with the uplifting message that the entire show gave off.
I don’t know if I explained it well. I’m not a writer. I feel like this was one of the first shows in a while that got back to what made One Tree Hill the show it is. The relationships. For a while everyone had there own agenda. Everyone was taking care of themselves. This was the episode where everyone is together for each other. Along with that they put depth to Dan and Carrie plot. Outed Skillz and Deb. Put a hold on Luke and Peyton getting married ‘til the finale.
I don’t proof read either, so there is probably an idea that is unfinished. What do you think?

Wow Paul! I'm impressed! I thought this was a great episode and I think I cried through roughly 75% of it. I don't know that I'd say it's my favorite yet, but episodes become my favorite a good bit of time after they air (when you just keep going back to watch that particular episode later). I agree with all of the points. Episodes like this one are why I look forward to Mondays all week long.
