Brooke & Jaye - SoCo

Brooke & Jaye take pictures.
Their pictures are awesome.

They usually take pictures of bands, but they can obviously take pictures of anything.
They have awesome cameras and awesome lenses and they rock.

They are actually going to take some pictures for me to put up in my house!!
These are the examples that I gave them of kinda what I was looking for:
they are going to take some cool pictures downtown or something and make them look way more awesome than my example pictures could ever even hope to look.

Yay!!!!

So if you need pictures taken, ask Brooke or Jaye because they are really awesome!!

Attention, Runners!!

This is really for Emily. I thought it was interesting. Maybe she already knows...

There is a site - Run.com - and you tell them what city you live in and they give you different running routes, different lengths, how difficult they are, what you can expect, etc!

That's cool!

Check it out!

Personality Type 4

I got this from Mandy.

Click this link and take the personality test. It's really interesting!! I'm Type 4. Here is the description of me! It's oddly accurate in my opinion. And it gives suggestions for how to get along with me! They are all very true as well!

You should try it and tell me what your type is so I can see how to get along with you! haha!

Jason Castro

My father-in-law and I don't agree. I think Jason Catro is great. He doesn't get it.

I started looking for YouTube videos and I found a couple that you should watch!!

This is a video of him singing Chris Rice's song Clumsy at his church:

This is him doing a Ray Lamontagne cover at a bar. The video isn't that great, but you can hear him okay.

I'm being serious.

I really do need your help. If you have time...

Not many people have really commented on my Strong Women blog.

I would like to have a whole page with different ideas people have of strong women and examples and things like that.

If you don't have time, it's not really a big deal. I'll just do half a page. But if you do have time, I would REALLY appreciate it!!

Here's the link.

Dan in Real Life

So I had a wonderful evening tonight! We went to Lewis' parents house for his dad's birthday and then my sister-in-law, Sarah and her boyfriend Andrew came over to watch a movie with me! I made puppy chow!! It was delicious - maybe the best batch I ever made! (Diana, you should've been there.)

Anyway, we watched Dan in Real Life. Maybe it's because Brooke had told me it wasn't very funny, it was more dramatic, and maybe because she told me it wasn't all that great so I had low expectations, I dunno...but I thought it was really good! I really enjoyed it!! I thought Steve Carell was so good. Dane Cook was okay, but Steve Carell is just always wonderful in my opinion. He's like Jim Carrey. I think Jim Carrey can be funny and serious.

Either way, I liked it!

10 Things To Do Before You Get Married

(This is not necessarily stuff I did, but after being married - and my ample 3 1/2 years of experience (ha!), here is my list of suggestions.)

1. Live alone (no roommates) for at least 6 months
2. Learn how to manage your money independent of someone else
3. Pay all your bills yourself - no help from parents, this includes all forms of insurance - for at least 1 year
4. Have a decent - I could keep this job for a long time if I wanted to - kind of job.
5. Own your own car
6. Be 21. Looking back on it, it's a little absurd to be married but not legal to drink. If the government doesn't consider you mature enough to have a beer.....
7. Go on a road trip with friends
8. Finish college. It sucks working full time to pay the bills and going into debt for school and having to find time to go to class, do homework, keep your house clean and still spend the much-needed time with your spouse.
9. With the exception of car, school or house - get out of debt. Just pay your bills on time every month. Credit cards aren't evil. Just pay them off.
10. Have had at least a full year of your life - not living in your parent's house - not being under age 18 - where you were completely single and learned to live life on your own.

Beautiful Boy

I remember when things were simple.
My heart hurts tonight.

Close your eyes,
Have no fear,
The monsters gone,
He's on the run and your daddy's here,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day in every way,
It's getting better and better,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Out on the ocean sailing away,
I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it's a long way to go,
But in the meantime,

Before you cross the street,
Take my hand,
Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Elizabeth

I watched this movie today. It was so good! I'm doing my Zine in my Gender & Women's Studies class on strong women in history, so this movie was particularly interesting to me right now. I think Elizabeth I was really interesting and obviously incredibly influential in history.

You should definitely watch this movie.
I'm about to go watch Elizabeth: The Golden Age - the sequel!

I'll let you know how it is, but I'm sure it will be fabulous!

1 more Joss post...

“It's about how much freedom you can take away from somebody before they either fold or fight, ... It's about the right to be wrong and the nature of human beings, that they need the freedom to be wrong. That they cannot be made to be better or perfect.”

“For me [Buffy] was about your teenage years but it was again the whole experience, the same situations you get into as an adult. Especially for the geeks of the world. It was about being separate but being triumphant in your separateness.”

"When I created Buffy, I wanted to create a female icon, but I also wanted to be very careful to surround her with men that not only have no problem with the idea of a female leader, but were in fact engaged and even attracted to the idea."

"What makes the show popular is the central myth of high school as horrific... The humiliation, the alienation... the confusion of high school is taken to such great proportions that they become demonic... I don't think you ever get over high school."

I Love Joss.

Easter

For those of you for whom Easter means bunnies and eggs, I hope you have a wonderful day with your family and friends and that you are happy in the company of those you love!

For those of you for whom Easter means a man, a cross and a resurrection, I hope you woke with thoughts of new life on your mind and heart and that you wake up not just today but everyday with your eyes on not the cross, but the LIFE after it and what that means for all of us.

And for those of you for whom Easter is just another day, I hope that you find peace and that one day Easter means rebirth, a new chance, hope, a future, not just here, but eternally.

Happy Easter!

Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer at sin's every beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ's sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That's what Jesus did.

I Need Your Help!! Really, Really!!!

Please take a few minutes to help me with this. It's for a school project - my final in my Gender & Women's Studies class. It will take you 5 minutes!!

I'm making a "zine" about strong women, what makes them strong, what are examples of them, etc.

So answer me this...

What do you think makes a woman strong? In every sense of the word.

And what are some examples, if you can think of any, of strong women in your life or in the media or in history?

Please just take a minute to comment, even if you don't normally comment! It will really help me a lot!!!

Also, if you have your own blog, please link to this so that your readers can comment and help me! The more comments, the better my zine will be!!!

Let's Talk Movies...

All info stemmed from The Movie Blog.

Diablo Cody, writer of Juno, has written another script called Jennifer's Body. It has already cast Adam Brody and Megan Fox. It's about a demon possessed cheerleader who feeds off the boys in her town. Sound corny? Or awesome? I think she is awesome and I think Adam Brody is awesome, so I'm all for it!!

Boondock Saints 2? The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day. The entire cast, except Willem Dafoe will be returning. Begins filming Summer 2008. Let's start the party!

For those of you who are Frank Miller graphic novel fans and/or were fans of Sin City or 300, get ready for The Spirit. Currently in production. Go to the official website for blogs from Frank Miller about the movie. They also have a poster, synopsis, etc.

The Cloverfield DVD will have 2 alternate endings.

There will be a 4th Fast & The Furious movie which will reunite the original cast - Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Paul Walker. Nice. That sounds like a treat. Seriously I'm not kidding.

The 7 Most Macho Movie Scenes That Get You Choked Up. I just thought this was a great blog post.

Paramount launches VooZoo on Facebook. You can watch thousands of clips from movies. Official clips. Not YouTube copies. Are you interested?

Brutal

I love my friends.

This is Brooke and her little brother and I really think it is one of the cutest things I've ever seen, so I had to post it for the world (or the small part of it that reads my blog) to see!

She also took the picture. She is a wonderful photographer. You should take advantage of that. She has awesome equipment, too! She's fabulous.

Paul, Hannah & I went to the comic book store yesterday!!!

Paul bought this Buffy Prophecy Girl doll.

Hannah & I each bought a couple of these Season 8 comic books.

It was awesome because in the comic book store, we are just 3 of TONS of people who love Buffy. I told the guy that works there that I really want this Buffy poster that is on the window. He told me I would have to get in line and probably fight for it.

I'm ready. Let's do it.

PostSecret 3-9-2008

Jaye, is this true??
(Brooke, ask him if he doesn't read my blog.)

Snow Days/Spring Break/Weekend

So, how is your spring break so far guys? (If it is your Spring Break...)

So far I have watched about 17 episodes of 90210, Martian Child & Jumper.
I've read 2 chapters of Atonement.
I've played Sims 2 on my computer.
I've done Friends trivia on Facebook.
And, obviously, I've blogged.

Tomorrow morning, Lewis' parents are coming over and we're going to start putting down the laminate on our first floor - living room & kitchen! I'm excited!!

Sometime Tuesday afternoon I think I'm going to the comic book store with Paul & Hannah.

Tuesday night, Katelyn is coming over and we are watching some of season 2 of One Tree Hill.

Then on Wednesday, I'm going shopping in Cincinnati with Diana & Allison!

Yay!

Bradley Hathaway

I played The Annoying Hardcore Dude... for Diana in the car on the way home from the movie and I need her to see what he (Bradley Hathaway) looks like. So here are some videos.

This one just shows how sweet he is. It ends up being So Do I Love You.

And this one is There Is Hope.

These are the lyrics:
There is a heart of such distress that I carry in this chest please reach out and caress in your pillowesque manner.

Front and center right here and right now I'm throwing in the towel I've committed too many fowls I've flown south.

My sprits turning sour I can't go through another hour, me my precious pretty pink petite flower that blooms in the night and leave me in the dark by your moonlight no more fight. I never fought anywhere so I thawed and now I'm here on these knees distraught.

Crying out to you pretty please, pretty please take this disease turning these insides brown my smile turns to frown and my breathe smells like death.

Because I am dead to light and a light is something I don't know that you would have me feel but this is for real and I need you right now, I need you right now.

So seal the deal with your stamp of regeneration and grow me up into a new creation taken from a tree and plucked from a vine, if it's my time to shine then shine your light on me so that everyone hurting can see that there is hope, hope in the seemingly endless valley full of rotten fruit left behind from previous troops that are now in your mountains drinking directly from your fountains, save me a spot I will be there sooner than not, I'm picking up the pace and slowly starting to trot.

The Happening

This was one of the previews before Jumper. It's the new M. Night Shyamalan movie! I really want to see it!! But, I mean, I would see anything he puts out at this point. It's not even really a question.

Jumper

Diana and I went to see Jumper tonight! It was very good and I highly recommend it! That's all I really have to say about that!

Beverly Hills, 90210

And let's talk about how Beverly Hills, 90210 was filmed in the same school that Buffy was filmed in.
I think I was meant to watch this show.

Saturday, March 8, 2008

Martian Child

Lewis and I watched this tonight. It was so fabulous. I loved everything about it! I love John Cusack and I loved the little boy and I loved the story and I loved the ending and I love that it's based on a true story and I love the way it made me feel in the end.

It is about hope and love and family and parents and being an individual and accepting that we are not perfect and it's just a really good movie.

You should watch it.

Beverly Hills, 90210

So I've been recording 90210 on the SOAP channel. I knew Emily had seen all the episodes and loved it, but it was always that show that I had seen several of them, but not all of them and I was okay with it.

Well now it's become my new guilty pleasure. They play them in order on the SOAP channel. I started recording them at about the next to last episode of season 2 - when Brenda's parents started trying to break up Brenda and Dylan. Now I'm like 3 episodes into season 3.

It's awesome. And their clothes are rockin' and it's just so cheesy.

And I guess with all the craziness that's on tv now, it's not as dirty as I remember thinking that it was! haha! But I'm sure it just gets worse as it goes on...I'm excited!

Dear Brooke,

When you go to Urban Outfitters on Wednesday, please buy this. It needs you.
