Things I Learned From Watching Buffy

(These are all comments people have posted on a Discussion board on the "Addicted to Buffy" Facebook application - of which I am enthusiastically a part of.)

Always trust your spidey sense
Fire bad, tree pretty
To read makes the speaking English good
The big moments are gonna come - that's when you find out who you are
When scary things get scared - not good
Love makes you do the wacky
DON'T EAT BAND CANDY
There is no problem that cannot be solved by chocolate... except barfing
A cranky slayer is a careless slayer
There's nothing like getting your ass kicked to make your ass hurt
What you're doing can usually be summed up in five words or less
There are no ingredients in a twinkie that a human can pronounce
If a friend is acting weird, check for hyena possession and/or body-swapping
All monkeys are French. And mock you with their pants
The stake is not the power!
You too can save the world with your mouth
Never underestimate the power of a broken crayon
It's the computer age. Nerds are in.
The real question is never if you can lead but can you follow
Your nips will tell you how nippy it is
Everyone dreams about the cheese man

2008

Ten on Tuesday (on Sunday)

10 New Year's Resolutions

1. I have plans for my tithing (new things I want to do)
2. Read a book a month that is not school related with my work Book Club
3. Send more notes and cards by mail for no other reason than to let my friends know that I'm thinking about them and I care
4. Exercise more often - I'm not putting an actual limit on it because I just don't have time
5. Pay attention to and enjoy the little things
6. Learn how to do something new

That's honestly all I've got right now...
If I think of more I'll let you know.

What are YOUR New Year's Resolutions?

So let's talk about these wisdom teeth...

1st of all - I thought I was going to be completely out during the surgery - like not remember a thing, wake up when they were done - which is what I WANTED. This is NOT what happened. I was awake and remember every second of the whole thing. I was numbed and I was on an IV which was doing something, but I don't know what because I remember what they said, I remember what they did, I felt the pressure and heard all of it even though I didn't feel it. I was really upset because I thought I was going to be completely out so I actually cried through the whole thing. But dumb loser. haha. As soon as they started the nitrous I just felt really heavy and I had this feeling that I was either just going to start uncontrollably laughing or uncontrollably crying. I cried. Wonderful.

So then they were done and Lewis & his mom came back there to take me home and I looked at Lewis and wanted to tell him that I was upset that I was awake through the whole thing, but when I tried to talk I couldn't, so I just started crying again and evidently spit all over myself. He's never wanted me more.

They drove me home and I actually did really well. Maybe them keeping me awake the whole time helped with that, I don't really know. But I laid on the couch with my favorite pillow and watched Hairspray with Lewis' mom. I fell asleep through most of it. The doctor had given me an antibiotic, a lesser kind of pain medicine (800mg of Ibuprofen) and a stronger pain medicine (big horse pills of Lortabs). I have yet to take the Lortabs because they freak me out. So I was fine on Thursday, I actually ate soup and pudding and had a milkshake.

On Friday, Emily came over to see me because she moves to Vegas on Tuesday so we could spend some time together. Hannah and Paul came over and watched Buffy. I talked too much and then later I tried to clean up the kitchen and make up my bed and stuff. Well that was evidently too much too soon because I woke up about 7:00 this morning and was in so much pain I was shaking and crying a little bit. Ugh.

So now I'm spending another day just laying down and watching Buffy & Bones. I'm not getting up a lot or leaving the house - which sucks because Emily's going away Open House is today and I can't go.

Overall things haven't been bad. I have heard stories that are much much worse so I'm actually very lucky, so Katie - getting your wisdom teeth removed really isn't that bad. Just don't try to do a lot of stuff a day later and just lay down and watch tv or something. When I sit up or stand up, that's when my blood starts flowing a lot and my face starts hurting.

Oh yeah, and they only removed 3 - I only had 3 - so I didn't have one on the bottom left and evidently the bottom ones are the bad ones. So I'm really really swollen on the right side of my face and the left side looks totally normal. I'm like a lopsided chipmunk. Lewis says it's cute but I think he just loves me and is trying to be nice because I feel like I look like Shrek or something. But I'm not bruised or anything!

So all is well!!

And now I'm going to go lay back down and watch more Buffy & Bones.

(I posted this for Katie because she told me to. I'm sure very few of you actually cared about the intricacies of my wisdom teeth escapades. Haha hope all of your weekends are wonderful!!)

Upcoming:

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

The Spook's Apprentice (2009)

Also - he produced The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), but did not direct it.

What I find interesting are the actors that he uses over & over.

He first worked with Johnny Depp in Edward Scissorhands in 1990 and they meshed so well together that he has used him on the majority of his movies ever since.

He was engaged to Lisa Marie from 1992-2001 and cast her in several of his movies.

He met Helena Bonham Carter on the set of Planet of the Apes in 2001 and has been engaged to her since then. They have 2 children together, one of which Johnny Depp is the godfather.

Loves it!
All according to IMDB

Sweeney Todd - my thoughts

Sweeney Todd was fabulous. I think that Tim Burton is the master of what I would call "beautiful nightmares." His movies are just so lovely (visually) no matter what the plot is. With Sweeney Todd, first of all, there was more music than I expected, but after about 10 minutes of it, you're just in awe of Johnny Depp and the whole atmosphere of the movie. It was so artistic in the way it portrayed everything. It was the first time I've actually noticed how beautifully someone can light a movie. The blood is not realistic looking. Burton focuses on style over reality in a way that just comes off exactly the way it would need to. The actors were perfect and the overall stylistic feel of how Burton did everything just completely won me over. On top of that, it was incredibly funny and moving at the same time. Burton & Depp took a Broadway musical and made it something that even my husband - who HATES musicals - absolutely adored. Burton just has his own way...and he needs to just keep doing exactly what he's doing. I loved it.

That being said, I'm not recommending it to everyone, only because if you are a certain type of person, you could actually be incredibly offended by the movie. So, I leave it up to you whether or not you want to see it!

The Chariot DVD

I still love this clip from The Chariot DVD.

For those of you who don't know, they are a Christian band that is on tour right now.

If you like metal music and are familiar with Christian music at all, they're kind of a big deal.

Well, not "they" - more "Josh Scoggin."

Anyway...

Katie Holmes hair

I'm kind-of obsessed with Katie Holmes' hair. (Minus the new bangs)

But since it would take somebody with thick hair to pull it off, I think Emily should cut her hair like that.

!! do it !!

New Buffy fan...soon...

Susan is going to start watching Buffy Season 1 tomorrow! I'm bringing mine to her at work!!

And that's awesome because they all look like this...

Hehe 90's all the way!!!

I am Legend

I saw I am Legend tonight.
It was good, not great - not my favorite.
But I do think Will Smith is fantastic.
And I did cry about 3 times.

Aw.
It was scary, too.

The Hobbit!

Peter Jackson (Director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy) is going to be directing The Hobbit and its sequel!

Yay!!

WGA says NO!!

The WGA has denied the request that members of the Guild be allowed to work on the Golden Globes or Oscars in 2008. This means that the writers will most likely picket the awards and the actors will join with them and refuse to cross the picket line - which means no Golden Globes and no Oscars. Also, the writers denied the use of movie clips or former clips from awards shows to be used.

They are pissed off!!!

I'm boycotting the Golden Globes AND Oscars this year if they do still put them on. And that's a really big deal for me. I LOVE awards season!!!

Producers, get your butts back into negotiations so everything can go back to normal!!!

Kate & Ryder

Okay, SO cute!!

Jamie Lynn Spears

Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant at 16.

All kidding aside because seriously, I just don't think it's appropriate - it's one thing to be in your 20's and get pregnant on accident and people give you a hard time about it (although I wish people wouldn't do that), but definitely not when you're 16 - she's going to have a hard road ahead, especially considering the media is going to add a much NOT-needed element of difficulty to this.

I'm happy she's keeping it and taking responsibility - I'm a firm believer that babies should always come into the world loved and WANTED.

And that's all I will ever say about the Jamie Lynn Spears pregnancy.
(Perez has already posted 4 blogs about it - blah)

Out on DVD tomorrow!!!

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Joker

So I pretty much think Heath Ledger is going to be amazing as the Joker.
I've always liked him and how versatile he is.
I'm very excited!

John Mayer

I'm really becoming a John Mayer fan. Never really was much of one before and maybe I'm the last to jump on that bandwagon (of the people who like that kind of music), but oh well. He's not too bad. And I like his blog.

i'm always late...

I really like the 10 on Tuesday blog which all my blogger friends seem to like as well. But I always forget about it! I'm such a random blogger that I have a hard time sticking to one set weekly thing. Anyway, here's my list of...

(not necessarily all things I expect to receive - so i didn't necessarily tell anybody i wanted them - just my dream list)
