burj dubai

If you haven't heard about this, it's just insane. Currently under construction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is the Burj Dubai tower. Upon its completion in 2008, it will be the tallest building in the world. It's final height is being kept secret, but it is rumored to be over 3000 feet tall. Here are some pictures just to give you an idea:

Is it strange that the only thing this really makes me think of is the Tower of Babel?

I didn't realize this one was over 3,000 feet. I had it at 2,625 when I posted on it in August 2005.

It's really amazing how technology allows such tall construction! Currently, the tallest building in the world is in Taipei, Taiwan. But there are 3 projects in the world under construction to surpass the Taipei 101. They are this one in Dubai, one in Chicago, and one in New York.

tower of babel... but we already speak different languages. maybe they're trying to work backwards here... but if that was the case, they would need to be tearing down the tallest building.... hmmmm

That's my mom's boss that's building that. The prince of Dubai is the guy who bought out my mom's farm (as well as about 3 or 4 more in Kentucky). He's over here all the time. You should check out this palm tree islands. He has BUILT islands that are in the shapes of giant palm trees. They can be seen from satellite. He also has an indoor ski slope in the middle of the desert.
