Brooke and I are taking 2 classes together in the fall. One of them is Studies in American Authors. We knew it had a subtitle, but we didn't know what it was. Evidently it is Abraham Lincoln. So Brooke and I are taking a 300 level English class about Abraham Lincoln.
I wonder what that's going to be like.

actually! you should be excited about abraham lincoln! he had a VERY interesting life.. and even more interesting is his wife who was.. well... clinically insane?
Yeah. Ab was actually very prolific and subtly funny in his writing. His wife did go crazy in the loon, but she had it rough. Most of her sons died very young, her husband was murdered right next to her, AND her only living child (Robert Todd Lincoln, who was also at Ford's Theater that night and went on to be present for 2 more presidential assassinations!) had her declared insane and committed to an asylum. I recommend reading the Lincoln chapter of Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell. In fact, get the audio version. It's got LOTS of awesome guest voices on it including Mary Louise Parker and Jon Stewart.
