Dexter/House

So branching from my previous post about shows I need to start watching, here are my thoughts:

Dexter
I will not continue watching this one. Although I understand why other people would like it and I definitely found his utter lack of feeling amusing, it just wasn't my thing. I watched a few episodes and it's just not for me.


House
I have watched 1 episode so far and I did like it! I'll probably keep this one up for at least a season to see how it goes. I'm interested, but not hooked.

Those are the only 2 I've tried out so far. I'll keep you posted as I continue trying new things!!

Literary Tattoos

I would love to get another tattoo - or maybe 2 more. One of them I would like to have some sort of really significant meaning pertaining to my relationship with Christ. I have yet to find something that really strikes with me as the perfect one. The other one I would like would be something literary - from a book that has had meaning to me. This was not originally my idea. My friend Brooke has some fabulous ideas for new tattoos that she wants. I haven't decided yet what I would want or if I would definitely get one. Possibly one of the more controversial posts I have ever done, but I really am interested in your opinion. I'm not interested in an argument, more just seeing where everyone stands.

Please read this article from Time Magazine about Gloucester High's Pregnancy Boom. Evidently in the last year, a large number of girls - all under the age of 16 - made a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. The school nurse administered 150 pregnancy tests within a very short period and the school, understandably, started to make an effort to see what was going on and what they could do.

The article brings up several issues that I find very interesting and worth discussion:

1. The influence of movies like Juno and Knocked Up on young teens. Do they glamorize young, unwed pregnancy?
2. The influence of US jobs moving overseas. How much does it really affect a city and community when jobs that used to be provided to members of the community are suddenly outsourced overseas?
3. Birth control for teenagers. Should schools be able to provide birth control with or without parental consent? Should schools be able to provide birth control at all?

While filming a scene in which the Joker visits Wayne Manor, Caine had never met Ledger before, so when Ledger arrived and performed he gave Caine such a fright he forgot his lines.
