My Zine

So I've decided on the 12 women I am going to highlight in my Zine for my Gender & Women's Studies class. They are in no way an exhaustive list of those I think are most important, just a list of interesting women who have exhibited strength in their various areas of expertise. What do you think?

The ones I didn't pick for my list, but would deserve to be on ANY list of strong, influential women in history (along with many others) are: Mary (Mother of Jesus), Cleopatra VII, Estee Lauder, Joan of Arc, Anne Frank, Hellen Keller, Eleanor Roosevelt

My best friend Diana has a wonderful husband, Tom and he is bringing Kona Ice to Kentucky!!!!

So if you see a Kona truck anywhere around, he owns it.

Buy Kona from it.
I just tried to Tiger's Blood flavor. (It's like Hawaiian Ice, but it's KONA Ice!)

It's so cheap and it's DELICIOUS!!! And if you buy a King Kona, you get a free lei!!
(Which you know I am ALL about.)

Catching Up With Ideal Bite

Eco-friendly soaps?? They don't have triclosan, which is antibacterial in soaps, but actually makes antibiotics less effective!

Christopher Walken was on SNL this past weekend and there was a skit that IS me.

Into The Wild

Lewis and I watched Into the Wild today. I thought it was so so good! Emile Hirsch is absolutely fabulous. I can't always find words for what I think of movies, so I'm taking them from the Rolling Stones review. Click here for the full review. I completely agree with all of it.

Lewis and I watched this tonight. I really liked it! I like Javier Bardem a lot.

It made me desperately want to read the book!

1 more Buffy fan on the way...

Diana came over tonight and we watched the first 2 episodes of Buffy.

She is willing to watch all of them, but she is pretending like she won't love it as much as me, Paul, Hannah & Susan do.

She just doesn't understand yet.

I know her.

She will love it.

Because it's fabulous.

Southland Tales

Paul came over last night and we had a Buffy night...or a Buffy-related night. We watched Southland Tales which has Sarah Michelle Gellar in it. Here's the preview...



It was not good. Not only that, but it was almost 2 1/2 hours of not good!! We kept thinking the end will be better, the end will be better...it wasn't.

But then we watched an episode of Buffy and the night redeemed itself.

Yay!

Freddie Mercury

I watched a VH1 Classic special on Freddie Mercury today. In the end I was crying. He was such a beautiful soul. And I know that is so Paula Abdul of me to say, but I'm serious. He was a fabulous performer, an absolutely amazing singer and a genuinely interesting person. He was "rock's first major AIDS casualty," quickly raising awareness of the disease due to his death in 1991.

1985's Live Aid concert was arguably one of the best rock performances ever.

And here is the last video Queen did with Freddie. It was filmed in May, 1991, just 6 months before he died. I think it is a beautiful testimony of who he was and the final view of all of them together.
