Book Clubs

I want to start a book club at work. I'm wondering how exactly we go about doing this - what do you DO in a book club? I've been looking around on the internet.

These are my favorite book club sites:
How to Start a Book Club
Book Club Reading List
Book Club Discussion Questions
How to Lead a Book Club Discussion
Book-Clubs-Resource
Books a Month

These are some books I'm interested in:

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel
The Blue Bottle Club by Penelope J. Stokes
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri

The Invisible

So I watched this today. And I was very pleasantly surprised. Not my favorite movie ever, but it was one of those rare movies where the preview looks so much worse than the movie actually is!

I thought it was worth watching.

And I really like Justin Chatwin.

He played Tom Cruise's son in War of the Worlds.

RocknRolla

I'm excited about this movie! It's written & directed by Guy Ritchie and it stars Gerard Butler!

So if you liked any of these:
Snatch
Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
300

You should be getting ready for RocknRolla!

Amy Adams

Speaking of Amy Adams...we all need to know who she is!! She is definitely one to watch!!

Here is her list of movies that I think we should all see:

Enchanted

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Junebug
(Academy Award nominee for her role in this)

The Wedding Date

Catch Me If You Can

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (okay, 1 episode, but yay!)

Enchanted

I loved it so much!!! It's definitely not Oscar material or anything, but if you just want a really happy feel-good movie that you will leave smiling, go see this!!

It wouldn't have been nearly as good if the actors (Amy Adams, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden) hadn't been so dedicated to being Disney characters. They were perfect!

And Amy Adams is just adorable!!

Poseur:

The Vase of Cornflowers, 1959
Salvador Dali

Poseur: someone who wants to impress others as being something he is not

Your completely self-involved worldview blinds you to reality. You have made your decisions and staked your claim on this "individuality" that when examined is really nothing unique. You blend into this world of copycats, jumping from big idea to big idea, just trying to keep ahead and really falling tragically behind. Is it worth it to lose everybody? Are you happier with no goals, no future, no passion for anything that isn't fully wrapped up in you?

You're right. If this superficial, cock-eyed, pathetic excuse for "real life" is all I'll get by following your shallow, superficial doctrine, then I don't want any part of it. And I'm not sorry for the loss.

You're wrong. And as much as I love you, I won't sit by and watch you go down in flames.

Of all the Salvador Dali paintings
I could have chosen for this blog post,
I wonder why I picked that one...
hmmm something to think about...

Hannah Montana

I don't get it.
But she is cute.
